Two families were forced from their home but told firefighters they could find another place to stay after a one-alarm fire struck in the attic of their Robbins Street home in the Highlands section of Lowell Monday night.
Firefighters were called to 31 Robbins St., at 8:23 p.m., and found smoke coming from the home when they arrived.
Inside, they found a fire in the attic that had been sparked by an electrical problem in the space between the second floor and attic, according to Deputy Fire Chief Patrick McCabe.
Crews had the fire under control by 9:15 p.m. No one was injured.
McCabe said two families live in the home, but both said they would be able to find a place to stay Monday night
