Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As per the 2 unanimous votes taken at our monthly union meetings, I as your president informed the PFFM that Local 853 have ended our affiliation with the PFFM with the effective date being 1 May 2007.

To our brothers and sisters in Massachusetts, the United States, and Canada , I pledge to you, we have not abandoned any of you, nor any of the principles that have made Local 853 and the IAFF the respected organization we are today.
  Rest assured if Local 853 is needed in any capacity, we will continue, as we have in the past, to be there for each and every one of you.   We will continue the fight to enhance and protect the rights we have battled for in the past.
  The battlefield may have changed, but our resolve and commitment has never, and will never waiver.
